Meeting called to order 25 June 2011 at 8:14 am by Paul
Quorum waiver approved under Article XI, Section IV. Normal quorum for 107 members requires 27 to
be present. Those attending numbered 17.
Minutes. 2010 annual meeting minutes read. Discussion regarding the USS Adams restoration
that $5,000 was approved and paid in 2010.
Motion made to accept by Wendell Dickey and second by
Membership – 107 regular members.
Administration – responsible for Database,
accounting, other operating areas.
Jim Sievers – responsible for database.
Also recognize Chuck White – Web
Audit Report – from Dr. Joanne J
report – at 6/18/11 savings is $ 5,515, checking is $12,830, and inventory
is $8,935. Motion to accept by Mike and
second by Dave Burns. Motion carried.
Reunion – recommendation by Board to change 2012 reunion from San Francisco to Las
Hotel costs range from $149 to $249 per night with
discounts. Marriott in Las Vegas has
quoted and provided a tentative agreement for $93 per night. Renausance Hotel have quoted $73 per night,
but failed to submit tentative agreement after two requests. Input – James Suttles – additional info
relative to Las Vegas activities, the economic hit that they have taken, San
Francisco is lowest on the list for favoring military, and recommends Las Vegas. Activity would probably be Nellis Air
Base. Richard added that Nascar track is close by. Bob Baird input re Oakland as a
possibility. Hornett museum is in that
area. Gary Bunt added that it would be
good to do Hawaii some time. Gary Bunt motion to go to Las Vegas, Steve
Starry second. Motion carried.
Old business – no old business to report.
Discussion regarding timing of the
Recommendation to provide
incentives to those serving on the Board during the Board tenure. These incentives would be free membership and
no reunion registration fee. Steve
Starry motion and James Sutton second.
2013 reunion site: Charleston, SC and New London, CT. Richard Cepelak discussed the New London area which
includes Mistic – antique whaling museum, aquarium; Fall River, MA - Battleship Cove (destroy,
submarine, maybe German submarine – Natilus, US Coast Guard Academy, The Eagle,
captured Japanese ship is used as training ship, etc.; Naval War College – Providence; Boston has naval history – probably
London, CT / Mistic area selected. Richard
will be the tour lead for the Reunion Committee.
Election of Board – Motion to nominate sitting Board plus
Chuck White and Wendell Dickey by Richard, second by Steve Starry. Motion carried.
New Board will meet right after the adjournment of the
annual meeting. Adjourned at 9:46 am.
